Hartz is an over the counter (OTC) medication for our pets. Being off the shelves, hartz products are readily available and would cost less than any other prescription medications. In these hard times, every penny saved is important. Hartz users will be spared from paying the vet’s professional fees. But should we really entrust the care of our pets to this product?

Heartworm is one of the deadliest diseases that could infect our pets. This parasitic disease is caused by mosquitoes. Mosquito bites would inject the heartworm larvae into the animal’s blood vessel. Upon maturity, the heartworms will travel to and attach themselves to the heart of the animal where it would cause considerable damage and in worst cases could result to death.

Signs of heartworm infestation are cough and difficulty in breathing (dyspnea). There would be abnormal heart and lung sounds. The animal would be lethargic and show no interest in any exercise, a visible weight loss due to loss of appetite. A poor blood flow to the brain would result to a temporary loss of consciousness. Brown colored urine is also a sign of infestation. It is always wise and advisable to give the pets preventive medications because once infected, pets could die in three days. The well-being of a pet will be a foremost consideration of a conscientious pet owner.

Pet medications are now readily available in the market. However, choosing the right medications can be tricky. Should one choose the cheaper over the counter brands or should one opt for prescription medications that would entail the services of a veterinarian. A pet’s life is at stake here. Pet lovers would always understand that the joy a pet brings to the owner is priceless.

Using hartz or any other OTC medications for that matter could be hazardous to the pet’s well being. Testimonies that were given by hartz users stated that the medication has adverse or unfavorable effects on pets. Pets that were treated with Hartz Advanced Care
Brand Flea and Tick Drops are known to suffer skin irritation, hair loss and vomiting. Worst of all, some pets died after medication. This is a nightmare for pet owners. Pets that are supposed to be cured by the medication needed to be brought to the vets or to be confined to animal clinics. Needless to say, this would entail additional expenses. The amount saved by using this OTC meds is not enough to cover the additional expenses for the vet and for the hospitalization.

Having pets would naturally mean extra expenses. The pet owner would spend for the food, for the medication, for the grooming and for the regular visit to the vet. But the owner can also look forward to the many enjoyable hours with his pet.
