The regular one focuses solely on the heartworm prevention, but the heartgard plus program also removes other unwanted worms, which can save you the trip to de-worm your dog. Just like with the feline, the heartgard program requires a dose once in a month every month. The dosage changes depending on the size and weight of your dog, but there are already pre-dosed packages that you buy according to your dog’s weight. The different dosages are still to be administered once every month.
